Jillian Parente is a licensed clinical social worker, board-approved supervisor and peer recovery specialist supervisor who has experience working with adults, adolescents and families. Jillian received her Bachelor’s degree from Towson University and her Master’s degree from University of Maryland Baltimore, School of Social Work, specializing in clinical mental health.
Jillian has a passion for assisting under-served populations, with a focus in criminal justice. Jillian is currently an Adjunct Faculty at University of Maryland, School of Social Work, teaching Adult Trauma and Clinical Social Work Practices and Clinical Social Work with Addictive Behavior Patterns. She is also part of the staff of Free Baltimore, LLC, OMHC, as well as an appointment member of the State Advisory Board of Juvenile Justice. Jillian was previously the Clinical Supervisor of PIVOT (Post Incarceration Vision of Transformation), a workforce development program for justice-involved women, where she was also a field instructor and consultant. Jillian created, implemented and facilitated a holistic mental health program for men who were housed on the psychiatric unit of the Baltimore County Detention Center. She has several years of experience in private practice and providing mental health services through the Department of Juvenile Services. She has worked as a Mental Health Professional at the Baltimore County Detention Center, providing mental health assessments and suicide prevention. She has experience as the Clinical Coordinator of The Children’s Guild Academy therapeutic group home for girls, providing therapeutic and case management services.
Jillian utilizes several therapeutic approaches, with a trauma-informed lens, to best fit the individualized needs of her clients, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy; Psycho-dynamic and Solution-Focused modalities, and Positive Psychology, including mindfulness. Jillian brings a holistic approach to the therapeutic session. Her style is nurturing and authentic. She does well with a variety of clients, particularly those who struggle with trauma; women’s issues, specifically, maternal mental health; anxiety; depression; Bipolar; healthy relationships; life transitions and finding overall balance. She works to assist clients in embracing their strengths to meet their personal goals and improve their quality of life.
Currently, Jillian accepts: CareFirst Blue Cross/Blue Shield plans (which includes BlueChoice, Federal PPO, Anthem, Administrators & HMO plans), Aetna (PPO & HMO), Cigna plans, United Healthcare plans & Johns Hopkins (USFHP & EHP).
Jillian treats patients that are 21 years of age and older.
